Between Blois and Chambord

Tourist on bicycle

Set out along this trail from Louis XII’s château to the most famous of Renaissance hunting grounds, from the time of the Viking pillaging, up the Loire, to the time of sumptuous royal parties. Check out the marks left behind by the royal river’s big floods at Saint-Dyé in particular and spare a thought for villages like Saint-Claude and Montlivault which, over time, have had to retreat from the riverbanks to avoid its tempers. If you have even a bit of imagination, don’t miss out!
