Romorantin-Lanthenay is the capital of the Sologne region and has fabulous buildings within its walls such as the current sub-prefect’s residence which is in the town’s old château where, in 1499, Claude de France was born. She married the future King of France, François I, in 1514. On Rue de la Tour, the Hôtel de Rère is an old residence with wooden walls and turrets from the 15th century. La Chancellerie, le Carroir Doré and Hôtel St-Pol are three remarkable buildings next to each other on Rue de la Résistance. Free acces any time.
